First U.S. Woman Welder Set to Compete at WorldSkills

After winning the AWS WorldSkills USA Weld-Off Competition, Mikala Sposito will be the first woman to represent the United States in the welding competition at WorldSkills Shanghai 2026, to be held September 22–27 in Shanghai, China. 

The Weld-Off Competition took place at the Alabama Robotics Technology Park in Tanner, Ala., from February 28 to March 6. Competitors were given 18 hours to complete four modules. Sposito, a student at Washtenaw ..
