You’ll also learn about key advancements, the latest technical approaches, and innovations required to support the industry. By attending, you’re awarded 1 PDH (Professional Development Hour) for each conference hour, which you can apply toward AWS recertifications, renewals, and other professional needs.

Brazing of Compact Heat Exchangers for Energy-efficient Heating and Cooling Systems
Hui Zhao received her PhD from the University of Kentucky, Mechanical Engineering Department in 2005. She has worked at Creative Thermal Solutions (CTS) since 2009 and currently serves as VP Engineering. Her research interests include the development of compact, high-efficiency heat exchangers using brazing technology, waste heat recovery and heat transfer characterization of the next generation of refrigerants.

The Forty-Year Transition of Soldering from Art to a Technology
Paul T. Vianco received a Ph.D. degree in Materials Science from the University of Rochester (New York) in 1986. He joined Sandia National Laboratories, Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1987 and remained for 35 years until his retirement as a Senior Engineer. Paul has been involved in all aspects of soldering technology, including alloy and process development as well as interface reactions and modeling to predict thermal mechanical fatigue.
His studies also included numerous investigations into the physical and mechanical metallurgy of metal-to-ceramic, active braze joints. Vianco, who is a Fellow of the American Welding Society and ASM, International, is the author of the Soldering Handbook, Third Edition as well as the Guidelines for Hand Soldering Practices, both AWS publications.
