There is often a great deal of confusion when it comes to essential documents for welding and fabrication, such as Welding Procedure Specifications (WPSs) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQRs). The goal of this seminar is to clarify the documentation process, establish the significance and function of each document, and detail how to write, qualify, and utilize WPSs, PQRs, and WQTRs. The seminar also covers the qualification process for welders and welding operators.

Garry Pace
Garry A Pace -PE/CWI has a BS in Welding Engineering from Montana School of Mines in Butte Montana. Mr. Pace has worked as a welding engineer in a number of industries over the last two and a half decades, ranging from manufacturing, boiler and pressure vessels, heavy construction, DOE nuclear as well as the oil and gas industries. In his roles in those industries, Mr. Pace has spent the majority of his time involved in the writing and review of Welding Procedure Specifications, Procedure Qualification Records as well as the training and qualification of welders to a number of different welding codes.
Mr. Pace is currently employed as a welding instructor for the Alief ISD Center for Advanced Careers as well as working as a welding engineering consultant.
Peter Kinney
Peter Kinney is a Senior Welding Engineer at Sandia National Laboratories. He has been a welding engineer for 17 years and a professional engineer in multiple states with a Master’s degree in Welding Engineering from The Ohio State University. Besides being an engineer, Mr. Kinney is a CWI, NACE CIP Level III and an ASNT VT Level III. Mr. Kinney has been in multiple different industries ranging from heavy civil structures, subsea pipelines and equipment, offshore structures, refinery piping to nuclear reactors and the Department of Energy weldments. Having worked on multiple continents in different types of projects, Mr. Kinney is well versed in dealing with varying welding issues. He is currently the Chair of the Inspection Committee for D1, a member of the Fabrication, Strengthening and Repair and Steel Committees.

Yes — upon completion you earn PDHs (Professional Development Hours) and CEUs (Continuing Education Units), and receive a certificate recognizing your participation and training in WPS, PQR, and WQTR documentation.
