  • What to Expect

This course will allow the attendee to understand the pros/cons of the various processes used in Aerospace welding. They will also understand the various materials used, where and why those materials get selected. The attendees will then learn the different NDE used, where they are used, and what those processes can detect, along with the equipment needed and an idea of what the cost is. The attendee will get a breakdown of all three D17 specifications with a highlight of critical requirements.

Earn CEUs/PDHs: Earn 2 PDHs/ 0.2 CEUs Continuing Education Units (CEUs)/Professional Development Hours (PDHs) for your professional growth.

Prerequisite Knowledge:
This class is the basics of Aerospace welding, so no prerequisite is required.

  • Master Aerospace Welding Basics
Understand the core welding processes, materials, and NDE techniques used across aerospace applications.
  • Learn from an Industry Veteran
Gain exclusive insight from Gary Coleman, a Boeing Technical Fellow with over 35 years of aerospace welding experience.
  • Navigate the D17 Standards
Get a breakdown of AWS D17.1, D17.2, and D17.3 — including key requirements and practical takeaways.
  • Designed for a Broad Audience
Engineers, technicians, inspectors, instructors, and welders alike will benefit from this comprehensive training.

  • Understand common weld processes used in aerospace applications, along with their advantages and limitations.
  • Learn about aerospace material selection, including titanium, aluminum, stainless steel, and nickel alloys, and how each impacts the welding process.
  • Gain insight into where and why specific NDE (Non-Destructive Examination) techniques are used, such as visual inspection, dye penetrant, radiography, and ultrasonic testing.
  • Develop a strong understanding of AWS D17.1, D17.2, and D17.3 standards and their relevance to aerospace welding.
  • Become familiar with equipment requirements and cost considerations specific to aerospace welding operations.
  • By the end of this course, attendees will have a solid foundation in the most commonly used weld processes, materials, and inspection techniques in aerospace, along with a clear understanding of the D17 weld standards.
