Michael Vivona says his life is one big puzzle. By day, he works as a plumber in Long Island, N.Y., where he grew up, and during his off time, he makes metal art. Each pursuit involves pieces that Vivona must fit together to create a whole. 

“Plumbing is figuring out how to make everything work,” he said. “You work with raw materials, so you have your basic fittings and pipes, and you have to figure it out and put it all together. It’s essentially the same thing [as making art]. I do enjoy the challenge ..
