Feedback / Appeals / Violations

The American Welding Society encourages input on all certification testing processes and maintains established processes that allow all candidates to:

  1. Provide feedback on specific questions found on your AWS certification exam.  Click here
  2. File an appeal regarding validity or bias concerns on a certification exam.  Click here
  3. Submit a report  on any suspected violations to AWS code of ethics.  Click here

The Certification Department is asking students as well as experienced CWIs and SCWIs to submit questions they think would be a valuable addition to our current CWI Fundamentals exam. Submissions should include the following: Question text, 5 answer choices, indication of the correct answer, and the corresponding specific reference information.
 
We will also ask for your contact information and you will have the opportunity to win a $100 AWS voucher!

Questions must be developed utilizing one of the following references:
    AWS A1.1 Metric Practice Guide for the Welding Industry
    AWS B2.1 Specification for Welding Procedure and Performance Qualification
    AWS B4.0 Standard Methods for Mechanical Testing of Welds

Additionally, questions should come from the following subject areas:
   Welding Processes
   Heat Control & Metallurgy (carbon and low-alloy steel)
   Weld Examination
   Welding Performance
   Definitions and Terminology
   Symbols - Welding and NDE
   Test Methods - NDE
   Duties and Responsibilities
   Safety
   Destructive Tests
