Certified Associate Welding Inspector (CAWI)

Take the first steps towards a prosperous career in welding inspection as a Certified Associate Welding Inspector (CAWI). You'll get hands-on experience as you work alongside a Senior Certified Welding Inspector or Certified Welding Inspector. The decision to become a CAWI signals to employers that you're serious about your career. Count on AWS Certification to put you on the right course.

Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)

The Certified Welding Inspector certification is more than a rewarding career. It involves great responsibility and remarkable skill demonstration. The CWI® is widely recognized, both nationally and internationally, and successful companies have come to rely on this AWS certification when ensuring the highest level of quality workmanship. As a Certified Welding Inspector, you will find this career path lucrative and rewarding. This certification can lead you to a career that is engaging and promising on all levels. If what you need is a stable career where you will thrive and find fulfillment, then the CWI certification is for you.

Senior Certified Welding Inspector (SCWI)

The SCWI is an individual who is in a supervisory position and has attained a higher level of experience than a CWI. The successful applicant also has professional education which has provided the opportunity to solve problems with a scope and level of difficulty beyond those experienced as a CWI.

CWIs who have held CWI certification for a minimum of six years and possess the requisite 15 years of experience may still not necessarily be the ideal candidate for the SCWI exam.

Endorsements are supplemental inspection credentials available to all AWS Certified Welding Inspectors (CWIs) and Senior Certified Welding Inspectors (SCWIs) to enhance an individual’s credentials. The examinations offered as endorsements to the CWI/SCWI programs are also offered as stand-alone exams to non-CWIs/SCWIs who wish to enhance their educational background.

Below are the available endorsement certifications that AWS offers. Select the endorsement you are interested in for more information regarding the requirements, reference materials, and other relevant information.

Reciprocity is available for specific AWS programs and welding inspector certification programs in other countries. The AWS Certification Department offers a listing of current approved reciprocal agreements and their respective requirements.
