Nominations Sought for National Offices for 2020 Postponed
The “Nominations Sought for National Offices” notification was previously posted in the July and August Welding Journal. On August 11, 2020, the AWS Board of Directors has amended the Bylaws to allow the 2020 Board to extend their current terms of service for 12 months into 2021. This amendment is subject to AWS Membership approval during the 2020 Annual Meeting and will be posted in the October Welding Journal. If the amendment is approved by Membership, the 2020 National Nominating Committee will not hold nominations in 2020 for the 2022 National Offices. Those individuals that were to take Office and join the Board in 2021 will start on January 1, 2022. AWS members who wish to nominate candidates for 2023 President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Director-at-Large may do so by July 31, 2021 for the National Nominating Committee Meeting to take place during the September 2021 FABTECH Show in Chicago.
In the event that the Bylaw amendment is not approved during the 2020 Annual Meeting of Members, the originally nominated 2021 Board will serve in 2021, and the National Nominating Committee will convene at a date to be determined between January and April of 2021 to allow ample time for AWS members to nominate candidates for President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Director-at-Large on the AWS Board of Directors for the term starting January 1, 2022. An appropriate posting with nomination requirements will be provided in the Welding Journal and on the AWS website if the proposed amendment is not approved and the National Nominating Committee is to convene.
