THE PORTLAND WISH CWI SCHOLARSHIP
The Greater Oregon Section of the AWS is pleased to announce the Portland Welding Inspection Scholarship Help (WISH). The WISH program is to help new inspectors enter the field or to further the education and certification of inspectors already in the field.
It is the goal of the Section to use WISH to help train and certify the best and brightest inspectors. The Greater Oregon Section hopes that by granting the candidate’s WISH, we can not only give them the funds needed for training and certification but also provide them with a growing group of mentors, possessors of a vast array of knowledge and experience. If you are new to the field or expanding your certification profile, join us; you never know when a WISH might come true.
The Portland WISH will be awarded to candidates entering the inspection field or furthering their inspection training. Priority will be given to candidates applying for certification, with emphasis on candidates certifying as a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI). All applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- Applicants must be a minimum of 18 years old.
- Applicants must meet all qualifications for the certification or endorsement they are trying to obtain.
- Applicant must be a citizen of the United States or Canada.
- Applicant must reside within the boundaries of the Greater Oregon Section of the AWS.
- If no applicants meet this criterion, consideration will be given to applicants that reside within the boundaries of District 19 of the AWS.
- Applicants do not need to be an AWS Member, but it is preferred.
Recipients will be awarded half of their test fees, up to a maximum of $500 per candidate per year.
