2007 AWS
Conference Schedule
Joining Dissimilar
Metals
May 22-23,
2007 – Orlando, Florida
The
joining of dissimilar
metals is one of those topics that some people would like to see “swept
under
the rug.” Nevertheless, it’s a situation that results in more questions
than
answers in a typical day. It’s a topic that’s not even mentioned in the
codes.
But help is on the way. This conference will combine the latest
innovations in
the appropriate welding processes and in welding metallurgy. The
Keynote
Speaker will be Dr. Thomas W. Eagar, Professor of Materials Engineering
and
Materials Systems at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Dr. Eagar
is an
expert in the area of dissimilar metals.
Explosion
of New Processes
August
14-15, 2007 –
San Diego, California
There was a time
years ago
when new welding processes were being introduced in fairly rapid
succession. We
then went into a long stretch when hardly anything new was being
introduced at
all. The tide has turned. We are now entering into another period of
new
welding technology. Some of the new processes include the higher
powered
ultrasonic welding, various types of friction stir welding, fiber
laser,
additive manufacture, hybrid welding, laser stir welding, and GMA
“buried” arc
welding. These processes are all bringing new life to the industry.
Weld
Cracking VI
October
16-17, 2007
–
Las
Vegas, Nevada
The popular Weld
Cracking
Conference continues to attract large audiences wherever it is held. In
this
conference, leading experts will describe the various problems that
trigger
cracking in weldments and also the steps that can be taken to prevent
the
problems from taking place in the first place. This conference is not
just
confined to steels. Attention will also be paid to the stainless
steels,
aluminum and titanium. There will be a great amount of useful
information for
everybody.
Friction
Welding
November
12-13, 2007
–
Chicago,
Illinois
This conference will
be held at the 2007 FABTECH Intl. and AWS Welding Show. More details to
come.
To register for these conferences or
for more information call 800-443-9353, ext. 223 or ext. 224
AWS Supported Conferences
Second
International Conference on Welding and Joining of Materials ICWJM 2007
April 16-18, 2007 • Cusco,
Peru
The II International
Conference on Welding and Joining of
Materials ICWJM 2007 will be held from April 16 to 18, 2007 in Cusco, Peru.
This conference is organized by The Pontificia Universidad
Católica del Perú,
in collaboration with the AWS International Peruvian Section, EXSA
S.A., and
The University of Illinois at Chicago.
The aim of the
conference is to provide a forum for the
exchange of information and knowledge in the fields of welding and
joining
technologies, covering activities in industries, universities and
research
centers worldwide. Prestigious international
experts will give keynote presentations.
In addition to the technical program there will be
an industrial exposition.
This
event represents the continuation of an effort that was initiated three
years
ago with the ICWJM 2003, organized in Lima,
with the attendance of more than 300 participants.
Eighth International Conference
on Brazing, High Temperature Brazing and Diffusion Bonding
June 19-21, 2007 •
Aachen,
Germany
From
June
19-21, 2007 the
8th International Conference on Brazing, High Temperature Brazing and
Diffusion
Bonding represents one of the world-wide leading conference in this
field. The
conference will bring together the professional world of joining
technology in Aachen,
Germany.
Technical developments are progressing faster and faster. Innovative
products
are manufactured from most modern materials, which are subjected to
extreme
conditions both during the manufacturing and in operational
applications.
Therefore, a crucial role is given to the joining technique. The
brazing
technique in particular offers a multiplicity of interesting solutions
to the
manufacturer to join different kinds of materials and products.
Even for the application of these joining processes a special level of
knowledge is necessary, which results from the application- oriented
information
exchange of practice and science and mediates the newest realizations.
Th
conference will cover:
- the transfer of scientific
findings to operational practice can be elaborated,
- the production process can
be optimized with regard to technical and economic aspects,
- new materials methods and
production methods can be presented, and
- the professional contact
between users and researchers can be established or intensified.
