AWS Fellow
The American Welding Society, in 1990, established the honor of Fellow
of the Society to recognize members for distinguished contributions to
the field of welding science and technology, and for promoting and
sustaining the professional stature of the field.

AWS Counselor
The American Welding Society, in 1999, established the honor of
Counselor to recognize individual members for a career of distinguished
organizational leadership that has enhanced the image and impact of the
welding industry.
The American Welding Society offers Fellowships or Grants to
students
for graduate research toward a Masters or PhD degree under a sponsoring
professor at a North American University. The fellowships are up
to
$25,000 per year to recipients. For further details on the

proposal is February 16, 2007.

Annual Silver
Quill Award
The Silver Quill Editorial Achievement Award is an annual competition
open to all non-welding industry and business publications. The
American Welding Society will reward an article that advances the
science, technology, and application of materials joining.

of Welding Awards
The AWS Welding Equipment
Manufacturers Committee (WEMCO), announced the 2005 recipients of the
third
annual Image of Welding Awards. Divided into seven categories, these
awards recognize individuals and organizations who have excelled in
promoting the image of welding in their communities. All nominations
for
2006 awards have been collected and are being reviewed now.

The 2007 Professor
Koichi Masubuchi Award
This award is sponsored by the Center for
Ocean Engineering
at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Massachusetts Institute of
Technology. The award was established to recognize Professor Koichi
Masubuchi,
who has made significant contributions in advancing the science and
technology
of welding, especially welding fabrication of marine and space
structures. This
award is presented to an individual who has made significant
contributions to
the advancement of science and technology of materials joining through
research
and development.
The candidate must be 40 years
old or younger, and may live
anywhere in the world. The nomination package should be prepared by
someone
familiar with the research background of the candidate. It should
include a
resume and three to five letters of recommendation from researchers
familiar
with the candidate.The resume should
include a summary statement of the candidate’s research interests and
accomplishments, educational background, professional experience,
publications,
honors and awards.
Nominations must be received by the deadline of December 1, 2006. The
award will be presented during
the 2007 FABTECH International & The AWS Welding Show. Submit
