The AWS Awards are designed to recognize men and women in the industrial, education and research communities who have made distinctive contributions to advance the science, technology and application of welding and allied processes, including joining, brazing and soldering, cutting and thermal spraying.
Honorary/Meritorious Awards Committee
Honorary Membership Award:
The nominee is selected at least 10 months in advance of the AWS Welding Show. Nominee packets may be submitted for consideration to the AWS Honorary-Meritorious Awards Committee and must include an introduction letter of support and a complete resume or CV of the individual’s qualifications.
International Meritorious Certification Award:
The nominee is selected at least 10 months in advance of the AWS Welding Show. Nominee packets may be submitted for consideration to the AWS Honorary-Meritorious Awards Committee and must include an introduction letter of support and a complete resume or CV of the individual’s qualifications.
William Irrgang Memorial Award:
The nominee is selected at least 10 months in advance of the AWS Welding Show. Nominee packets may be submitted for consideration to the AWS Honorary-Meritorious Awards Committee and must include an introduction letter of support and a complete resume or CV of the individual’s qualifications.
National Meritorious Certification Award:

George E. Willis Award:
The nominee is selected at least 10 months in advance of the AWS Welding Show. Nominee packets may be submitted for consideration to the AWS Honorary-Meritorious Awards Committee and must include an introduction letter of support and a complete resume or CV of the individual’s qualifications.
