  IIW Granjon Prize Competition 
IIW GRANJON PRIZE COMPETITION

The Granjon Prize Competition is an annual international competition among authors of papers devoted to research into welding technology or a related subject.  The purpose of this Competition is to stimulate interest in welding and allied processes among young people.

Entry Qualification:

To be eligible for the competition, papers must be single authored, based on recent or current research carried out in a university, other appropriate institution, or in industry, for which their authors have been awarded or are working on a recognized professional qualification or a degree at the Master or Doctoral level.  Bibliographical surveys are not eligible for the competition.  

Whenever appropriate, the author's supervision may be identified in a foot note (e.g. The research work was supervised by Professor ___ at the University of _____).

Scope

The research must be capable of being categorized into one of four main areas of technology related to joining, surfacing or cutting:

• Category A:    Joining and fabrication technology
•  Category B:    Materials behavior and weldability
•  Category C:    Design and structural integrity
•  Category D:    Human related subjects

INSTITUTE OF WELDING


The IIW was founded in 1948 by the welding institutes or societies in 13 countries to promote international collaboration in welding. With 43 member countries, the objectives of the organization are:

to promote the development of welding and to provide for the exchange of scientific and technical information on welding research and education.

to assist in the formulation of international standards for welding.

to promote the organization of national welding associations.
