D1 Summary of Committee Responsibilities
Responsible for the Development of AWS Standards for Structural Welding Applications.

Committee History
The first edition of the Code for Fusion Welding and Gas Cutting in Building Construction was published by the American Welding Society in 1928.  From this first edition the code has evolved into the series of structural welding codes below.  Over 150 industry volunteers comprise the AWS Structural Welding Committee and its 15 subcommittees and permanent task groups.  Committee members hail from 34 states, Canada, France, England, Japan, and the District of Colombia.  The committee meets twice a year to review, discuss, and approve revisions to these codes.
