B1 COMMITTEE ON METHODS OF INSPECTION
The basic responsibility of this committee is the
establishment of technically sound methods and recommended practices
for inspection and nondestructive examination of welded joints and the
promotion of knowledge and dissemination of information on welding
inspection. Major functions of the Committee are to obtain and review
existing inspection standards developed by other Committees of AWS and
to develop a consolidated Standard or Standards for inspection
methodology, to assure that the Society's related publications are
technically sound, consistent, and not in conflict with each other. The
Committee will respond to inquiries from the public on matters within

RESPONSIBILITIES ATTENTION INSPECTION PROFESSIONALS The American Welding Society is recruiting volunteers to serve on the B1 Committee on Methods of Inspection. This committee will begin revising two standards – AWS B1.10:1999, Guide for the Nondestructive Examination of Welds, and AWS B1.11:2000, Guide for the Visual Examination of Welds.
