2008 Golf Tournament

Post Tournament BBQ
Dinner; Tournament Winners & Snack Cart Girls
The 4th annual AWS Section 195 golf
tournament was held on Saturday May 27, 2008 at the Village Green Golf and
Country Club Inman, South Carolina. This tournament was started four years ago
by the Section 195 board members to fund a scholarship for local welding
students. All proceeds from the event go towards a scholarship for welding
students in the upstate of the Carolinas that attend either Tri-County
Technical college, Greenville Technical College, or Spartanburg Community
College.
It has been a great success and has grown every year.
The Section sponsored two welding students in the 2007-2008 school year and is
planning to sponsor four students in the 2008-2009 school year.
There were Bar-be-que plates and a lot of door prizes
after the tournament. The first place winner of this year’s tournament
was Mike Dortch and his ALCOTEC Team.
AWS Section 195 would like to thank all the sponsors
and participants who donated money, prizes and/or time to make this tournament
a great success:

Student Night
The second Welding Student
Night was a great success! We had
approximately 150 people sign in and had 30-40 vendors and section members
present. We would like to thank all
that took part in the event from the organization, vendors, door prizes,
giveaways, speakers, and countless of others that assisted that night. We look forward to hosting this event
again in the future. Together
through our efforts maybe we can put a small dent in the need for highly
skilled welders in the industry.
