Sprecher Brewing Co. was founded in 1985 by Randal Sprecher, formerly a brewing supervisor at Pabst Brewing Company. Sprecher revived both the distinctive quality of regional beer and of old world brewing methods.
"Milwaukee was once called the Beer Capital of the World, thanks to its prowess in cranking out Pabst, Schlitz, and other monosyllabic canned beers that are now ironic hipster fashion accessories.
