MIAMI - February 11, 2004 - The AWS Welding in the Defense Industry Conference presents the latest in design, materials, and welding processes used to create aircraft, weaponry, ships, and tanks. On July 13 and 14, researchers, scientists, and engineers will gather at the Grosvenor Resort in Orlando, Florida, to share these advancements in welding technology_a vital part of Americašs defense industry.

Discussions will cover how electron beam, laser, flux-assisted gas tungsten arc, friction-stir, and hybrid welding are used on steels, stainless steels, aluminum, and titanium alloys. Experts from organizations including the U.S. Army, the Naval Surface Warfare Center, and Boeing Integrated Defense Systems will present case studies and report on government research and new fabrication techniques.
