AWS ANNOUNCES CONTESTANTS FOR U.S. OPEN WELD TRIALS

Miami—April 7, 2005: The American Welding Society (AWS) announced the contestants for the U.S. Open Weld Trials. The Trials start on Monday, April 25, 2005, at noon, and will take place at the 2005 AWS Welding Show in Dallas. The overall winner and U.S. representative to the World Skills Competition will be announced on Thursday, April 28, 2005. The contestants are:

The World Skills Competition is a bi-annual event where young skilled people compete in various trades and test themselves against international standards. This year's competition is in Helsinki, Finland at the Helsinki Fair Centre.

Contestants participate in 34 official competition skills that include technology, industry, and services. About 800 competitors from nearly 40 countries participate in the competition.
