Strengthening the Future of Welding
From inspiring a child's first glimmer of excitement at learning about the natural sciences, to breakthrough funding for welding engineering undergraduates and research fellowships, the AWS Foundation is 100% focused on strengthening industry research, progress and advancement.
Welding growth through research and education
The AWS Foundation is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization that supports programs to ensure the growth and development of the welding industry through research and educational opportunities. Our industry depends upon education that prepares the next generation to meet the challenges ahead.
The Foundation is led by a volunteer Board of Trustees with all administrative tasks (program development, fundraising, public relations, marketing and financial management) provided by a small development staff of the American Welding Society.
AWS Foundation programs include the following:
- Engineering Your Future Welding Career
- Workforce Development
- District Scholarships Program
- District Named Scholarships Program
- Section Named Scholarships Program
- National Scholarships Program
- International Scholarships
- Graduate Research Fellowships
- Educator Scholarships
Welding is much more than a single industry: it's a tremendous force that continues to build and strengthen our world for the better.
Section Scholarship Committee and Program Guidelines
Many AWS Sections have successful and active scholarship programs. AWS has developed guidelines to assist other Sections in establishing programs or in redesigning their current programs. This document was developed for the sole purpose of assisting Sections and is not intended to place restrictions or controls for managing a scholarship program. Included is a sample application and support forms that may be revised to fit your specific scholarship criteria.
