Pre-Certification
Preparatory Seminars
AWS offers the
following preparatory
seminars for certification exams:The
Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
certification is widely recognized, both
nationally and
internationally, in the welding industry.
Successful companies
have come to rely on this AWS certification when
ensuring the highest
level of quality workmanship.
Preparation for
a 9-Year Recertification
Exam (CWI Part B: Practical Applications) can
be done by taking an AWS
Visual Inspection Workshop. This one-day
course is offered the day
before the exam at most exam sites.
Welding
Educator (CWE)
certification can be prepared for by taking
the Welding Technology
Workshop and Visual Inspection Workshop
portions of the CWI seminar
week.
The
Advanced Visual Inspection Workshop is a
16-hour course designed for inspectors at
nine-year renewal time who need to prepare
for the Part B Practical Examination, as
well as for first-time CWI candidates who
have failed to pass the Part B Exam, but
have achieved a high enough score to be
eligible to retake it.
The Certified Welding Supervisor seminar was developed to teach individuals the mastery
that welding supervisors must be capable of demonstrating. This five-day course focuses on the
knowledge a supervisor needs to support improvement of the welders' environment, productivity, throughput, weld
quality and safety. Participants will learn the science rather than the art of welding for
a better control of variables in the welding process. This program focuses on the economics of welding and is the
first AWS program designed to enhance the profit margins of welding fabrication companies.
AWS
provides a seminar program to prepare candidates
to be certified as
radiographic interpreters (CRI). The
certification program is
designed to provide evidence of the ability of
individuals to properly
assess welding-related indications produced on
radiographic film and
related media. If your job responsibilities
include reading and
interpreting weld radiographs, this program is
for you. You'll learn
proper film exposure, correct selection of IQIs,
characterization of
indications, and use of acceptance criteria as
expressed in the AWS,
API, and ASME codes.
AWS
conducts seminars to prepare individuals for
certification as welding sales
representatives (CWSR). The
certification program is
designed to provide evidence of the ability
of individuals to function
effectively as sales representatives in the
welding industry.
